What We Do

A private line
across the bay.

The Bay Line is a private cross-bay boat service from Long Island's South Shore to Fire Island, built for people who would rather not spend their summer in ferry lines and parking lots.

Every crossing is by appointment, direct, and handled personally — for clients who value privacy, comfort, punctuality, and the simple luxury of a trip that just works.

Our Mission

Make the crossing feel as effortless as the island itself.

Every crossing is handled with professional seamanship, intimate local docking knowledge, and the calm that comes from years on serious water. You step aboard on the mainland and step off already in vacation mode.

The Difference

Leave the noise behind.

The Mainland Way
  • Traffic on the way to the dock
  • Hunting for parking
  • Ferry lines and fixed schedules
  • Crowds, coolers, and waiting
  • Arriving frazzled
The Bay Line Way
  • A private departure on your schedule
  • Calm water and a direct crossing
  • Personal, attentive service
  • Room for your bags, gear, and group
  • Arriving already relaxed

Same bay. A completely different way to cross it.

Your Captain

This is not a side hustle.
It's a mariner's operation.

The Bay Line is operated by Joseph, a graduate of SUNY Maritime College who holds licenses across a wide range of vessel tonnages — qualified to command ships as large as ocean-going oil tankers. He spent roughly a decade as a commercial mariner and ship's officer aboard large tankers and cargo vessels, sailing through some of the world's most demanding ports — from Egypt and the Middle East to Greece and beyond — under strict safety procedures, heavy weather, and tight harbor entries.

Closer to home, Joseph served as dockmaster at Flynn's on Fire Island, one of the tightest, busiest docking environments on Long Island, where he handled and docked thousands of boats and yachts in close quarters — under current, wind, and pressure. It's a rare combination: big-ship discipline paired with hard-won local Fire Island docking knowledge.

Today he also serves as a Nassau County police officer — part of a life built around responsibility, composure, and public service. He has handled ships and yachts in conditions most recreational boaters will never see, and he brings that same calm, safety-first discipline to every crossing.
